Pinteresting…

Have you gotten a chance to check out Pinterest yet? I think it’s the hottest thing on the interwebs for photographers and designers a like! It’s super addictive (I know we need something else right?!) Pinterest is a great new social networking service that allows you to take basically any image or video on the web and “pin” aka bookmark it to a “board” that others can see.

Why is this SO great? Because inspiration has never been as easy to catalog as it is now. Have you ever come across some photographs that you wanted to save and come back to look at it but don’t have the hard drive space but don’t want to have a gabillion bookmarks? You can “pin” anything you find on the web into  a board that you make to show and come back to when you like! I have boards for ALL  my loves, photography, design and artwork, fashion, geekdom, travel, things that inspire me every single day. I love to browse and add to my boards on a daily basis to keep me being creative. I set aside about ten minutes a day to do this to keep things fresh.

I think Pinterest is a huge game changer in any artists future. I’ve even started promoting it for my design clients to make inspiration boards for their designs, and I can instantly get a feel of what someone is wanting or trying to go for in their own personal way. Not only that, but what if you’re a photographer needing posing ideas on the fly? Pinterest comes as an app (currently only on iphone) that gives you posing ideas on the fly. No more saving them to your phone or troublesome way of organizing them. If you’re an avid pinner you can even find out more about yourself that you didn’t already know. Some days when I pin a series of posts I’ll notice that the color themes are similar (unintentionally) and most of the time reflects the feelings or mood I’m in at the time I post them. I also found out my extreme loves for certain textures, colors and styles. So not only is a good way to get to know yourself a little better, but you’re having fun and building inspiration up while you do it! Check out my own Pinterest and follow me HERE. I pin daily so there’s always something to look at!

Do you have a Pinterest account already? What do you use it for? How has it inspired you to do better what you do, if at all?
